When the news was announced by Glyn that we would be working with Mark Hart and his team at Sweethart Coffee & Cake, our waistbands expanded a couple of inches at the thought!
The chance to work closely with an award winning local cafe who have recently taken on bigger premises, introducing a bistro menu on an evening was just too good to turn down. Mark and his team first hit the headlines in the ITV documentary "Britain Best Bakery" in 2014 - watch them here !
The reputation that Mark has created since setting up in 2012 has always been strong and with Trip Advisor ratings of 4.5 out of 5 this is a place people love to talk about. Talented entrepreneur Mark is keen to continue to expand the business where the award winning baked egg custard comes from, a massive favourite for team Harlands and many of the visitors to the shop. (Did you know it won a gold award in the Great Taste Awards in 2015?) The addition of head Chef Chris Dodd's and the increase in space in the new premises see's the exciting development of a bistro menu.
Many of our team live locally and have been lucky enough to sample some of the mouth watering products on offer at the cafe and the recent expansion means that you can also fine dine in the evening at the Bistro and can grow the wholesale supply of his freshly made breads and desserts to high-end restaurants and food outlets across the North East.
To be involved with a growing business like this gives us a rush that sugar can't provide (Sorry about that pun!) and we have really enjoyed working with Mark and his team amd can't wait to see what the future holds. Our ultimate aim is to help them take control of their finances so that most importantly Mark has more time to concentrate on building the business.
